Sanitary Supplies to girls in Ethiopia
By David Crozier
One of our newer projects, Partners in Ethiopia, has been making a difference for girls in Agarfa with project partner Vision for Bright Future, an Ethiopian NGO…
My name is Abeba. I am 16 and live in rural Agarfa, Ethiopia. School is important to me and I don’t want to miss any classes. However, without sanitary supplies, when it is time for my period, I just stay home. The challenges girls like me face are real. We miss school for two – three days every month. We feel the stress of being unprepared for our period. I don’t feel confident at school during my period because of the embarrassment and the lack of adequate facilities.
There are some disposable sanitary pads available in our town, but we cannot afford to buy them. I am very excited about receiving my reusable sanitary pads and underwear from Vision for Bright Future with the funding from Partners in Ethiopia. Now, like the boys, we can attend school and dream about where our education will lead us.
