UBC Volunteer Award

Tanu Sandhu, a UBC student in the Faculty of Education, was recognized through the Community Field Experience Award for her work at Stand Tall. Recipients of this award are chosen for overall excellence in the field. Tanu did a three week practicum at Stand Tall in April during which time she demonstrated expertise and professional teaching practices.

She went beyond everyone’s expectations when she initiated a blackboard restoration activity with a group of students. She also bought books for the library, and will be sponsoring one of our current graduates for post primary education.

She displayed a willingness to help where help was needed and she created strong bonds with the children in a short time. Congratulations to Tanu for winning this well-deserved award!
