East Van Kids make their voices heard for Ukraine
By Josephine de Freitas
A group of children from East Vancouver took to the microphone for a unique fundraising poetry performance for Ukraine.
The grades 4-6 students from Tyee Elementary School were brimming with passion as they performed poems they’d spent over a month writing for the special event.
Their families were in for a real treat with the avid young poets not only bringing the words to life, but the classroom to life with their fast-paced and animated poetry slam.
As well as giving children a voice through poetry, the event raised $500 for Relief efforts in Ukraine. Proceeds are being donated to Rose Charities Ukraine Emergency Fund, directly supporting children and families caught up in the crisis.
If you missed the event but would like to donate to support the children you can do so through Rose Charities Canada. All proceeds will go to Ukraine.
